This is an excellent article from BJA education that explores a general approach to a child presenting with a possible high-risk ingestion. In a concise fashion, expected examination findings, red flags as well as the principles of management are explored. The article concludes with a review of the anaesthetic challenges of treating paediatric patients after the ingestion of caustic agents, batteries and magnets.
